Description
This bag represents hours of planning, sketching, trial and error, cutting, and sewing. It carries my hard work, imagination, late nights, bold creative vision, and the courage to create something that feels.
 
This medium-sized tote features a structured silhouette with a double-zip closure and sturdy reinforced base. The body of the bag is crafted from Egyptian-inspired cotton fabric, rich in gold detailing and symbolic patterning, and grounded by a luxurious black Portuguese cork base flecked with gold. The interior is lined with waterproof cordura for both elegance and durability, and includes a single internal pocket to keep small essentials secure. Comfortable handles made from soft cotton and durable webbing allow for it to be comfortably carried, making it as practical as it is eye-catching. Every element of this piece — from pattern placement to material pairing — was chosen with story and function in mind.
 
Story
During the Age of Exploration, Portuguese explorers sailed the coasts of Africa and were among the first Europeans to establish maritime contact with regions near Egypt. Egypt — a jewel of the Silk Road and the spice trade — was a land of incense and gold, sacred temples and forgotten tombs. It was the stuff of legends, the kind of place that inspired the dreams of explorers and treasure seekers alike. Cleopatra’s Compass is a fusion of those worlds — a rich Egyptian-themed fabric, threaded with gold, paired with an extraordinary base: Portuguese cork. This eco-friendly, sustainable material is everything you'd want in luxury craftsmanship — it’s stain-resistant, durable, antimicrobial, and hypoallergenic. Soft and supple like leather, this particular cork — black with flecks of gold — evokes starry desert skies and the glimmer of ancient treasure.
 
I've always been enchanted by Ancient Egypt. I even studied it in college, once dreaming of becoming an Egyptologist. This bag is especially close to my heart — it feels like something unearthed from a forgotten tale.
