MY STORY
THE BRAND
MeganGaea was founded in Brisbane in August 2024.
The brand brings together everything I have spent decades learning and loving: fashion, design, colour, photography, structure, storytelling, and craftsmanship.
Each piece is designed and handcrafted by me, one at a time.
My background in print and design shapes the precision of construction and attention to detail. My experience in fashion and interiors influences how I work with colour, texture, and form. Photography informs the way I see light and composition. And life as a mother of five means that every design must also function beautifully in the real world.
MeganGaea is not a fast-fashion label. It is a slow, intentional studio practice. Many pieces are one-of-a-kind, created from carefully sourced fabrics, reclaimed textiles, and thoughtfully selected hardware from Australian suppliers.
The studio is cruelty-free. I do not use animal leathers or animal-derived materials in my designs. Instead, I am continually exploring innovative alternatives, including sustainable fruit-based leathers and other emerging materials that allow beauty, durability, and compassion to coexist.
Every bag carries a story. Some celebrate Australian landscapes. Others honour moments, memories, or people.
Each one is made slowly, carefully, and personally.
MeganGaea continues to grow, one piece at a time.
Because True Luxury Is Made by Hand.

THE DESIGNER
Hi, I'm Meg.
I’ve worked for as long as I can remember.
As a teenager, I held multiple jobs while still at school. Even then, I was drawn to design. In high school, I began designing and constructing gowns, and at sixteen, one of my pieces was worn on a catwalk at The Golden Gown Awards. Seeing something I had imagined come to life under lights on a runway was unforgettable.
A couple of years later, I stepped into design and journalism, working as a reporter and desktop publisher for a major newspaper. From there, I moved into the printing industry, eventually becoming a pre-press manager in a printing studio. I worked across graphic design roles around Canberra, learning production, layout, typography, and the discipline of precision. Those years taught me how to think structurally and creatively at the same time.
Life shifted when I moved from Canberra to the Snowy Mountains. It was there that I met my husband, George. Within five years, we welcomed five sons into our family. Those years were full, loud, and beautiful (and they still are).
While raising our boys, I began studying interior design from home and developed a deep love of photography. Photography became another creative language for me. I photograph live music and performers, animals, macro details such as insects and textures, and astrophotography. I am drawn to light in all its forms, from stage lighting to distant stars.
At the end of 2022, our family moved to Brisbane, where I continued my interior design studies and began shaping the next chapter of my creative life.
Meg 🌸
